Bodies of 2 U.S. Coast Guard cadets killed in N.J. crash to be sent home to Georgia

Arrangements are being made to send the bodies of two U.S. Coast Guard cadets killed Saturday in a Hopewell Township crash to their home country of Georgia, police said Tuesday.

Their bodies were released by the Mercer County Medical Examiner`s Office on monday and Georgian officials are making arrangements to transport the bodies for burial.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy released a statement on its Facebook page Monday regarding the two cadets from the country of Georgia who were the victims of an automobile crash in New Jersey early this Saturday.

The statement reads: “The CGA community is in mourning as we remember two cadets from the Republic of Georgia, First Class Cadet Soso Makaridze and Third Class Cadet Bersarian Gorjoladze, who were lost in a tragic car accident early Saturday morning.”

Academy superintendent, Rear Adm. Sandra Stosz will be in the delegation accompanying the transportaion of the  bodies of US Coast Guard Academy cadets to Georgia.
