Suspect in the murder of a police officer indicted in absentia

Shalva Abuladze, the suspect in the murder of a police officer, has been indicted in absentia. 

According to the statement of the Chief Prosecutor’s Office, Abuladze was indicted for murdering a police officer in connection with his duties and illegal purchase-possession of weapons.

‘’On the 4t April of 2015, officers of the Isani- Samgori Department of the MIA , Beka Margishvili, Vakhtang Guliashvili and Valerian Grdzelishvili , who were on a duty, stopped a citizen, who was driving from Javakheti Street to the direction of the Varketili Metro Station for a routine check. As soon as he was told to stop, the person fired several shots in the direction of the policemen. As a result, Beka Margishvili died of his wounds and Valerian Grdzelishvili remains hospitalized. 

The investigation revealed the identity of the person who attacked the police officers. His name is Shalva Abuladze, born in 1977 , who was also wanted for attempted murder of two policemen Giorgi Beruashvili and Giorgi Makharashvili, the fact that happened on 25th of January of 2015 year in Borjomi. 

He was convicted more than a once in the past, including attempted murder and armed robbery. 

The investigation is ongoing under Article 109 paragraph 3 subparagraphs “a” and “f” of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which entails the deprivation of liberty for a term from 16 to 20 years, or life imprisonment.
