"The National Bank should be independent, otherwise the economy will have problems" -stated Executive Director of The McCain Institute for International Leadership  during his visit to Georgia.

Valker claimed  that the national  bank"s role in the economy of the country is very important.

"  The independence of the National Bank is important. It sets the interest rate , controls  the monetary reserves. It is important for economic growth,"- Kurt Volker stated. he also discussed the issues related to energy sector.

"Energy is the most important issue for any country. It is questionable whether  diversification is possible with less expenses.  We see that  dependence on only one pipeline allows Russia to put pressure and it is dangerous for every country and market. We have to try to create   a diversified global energy market," - said Kurt Volker.

The former Secretary of the President has also commented on the issue and focused on the possible threats.

" The process is not going with our partners on the issue, which mechanism should be set up  for Georgia not to lose a very important role between the east and the west . New projects on transportation of gas and oil create problems for Russia. This is very good opportunity to discuss these issues with partner countries.,"- Vano Machavariani claimed.
