Irakli Alasania has discussed pre-election media environment at the International Republican Institute in the US, where he met with the Vice president of IRI .

The Chairman of Free Democrats underlined that he had hoped that in Georgia would be better environment, but now the country faces the direct pressure on media.

Irakli Alasania will hold meetings at the White House, the State Department and both chambers of Congress.

He has met the Deputy Assistants of the Secretary of State- Thomas O. Melia and Victoria Nuland already.

" One of the main issues we have discussed was a pre-election environment and institutional support of the parties. One of the discussed issues was media freedom. We thought that the situation would be better after 2012, but it seems that we face the attempts of pressure on media ,"- said Irakli Alasania.
