Former Minister of Justice, Zurab Adeishvili was sentenced to prison in absentia on the forcible seizure of Akura winery. The information was released by the Prosecutor"s Office.
"As it is known, Zurab Adeishvili and Merabishvili were charged for abuse of power, in 2004, committed systematic crimes directed at the forcibly deprivation of citizens of property through a jointly agreed scheme of the then law enforcement agencies and the National Bank, which resulted in victims forcibly seized Akura winery in Telavi from Teimuraz Megrelishvili and Nodar Modebadze.
"According to the investigation conducted by the Investigative Department of the Prosecutor"s Office the violation was conducted under the Criminal Code"s Article 333, which envisages deprivation of liberty from 3 to 5 years," - the statement says.
