Belarus: Georgian citizen sentenced to three years in prison

The Court of Minsk has sentenced Georgian citizen Gela Sakhelashvili to three years in prison for attempting to hijack a plane.

The court decision was announced on January 28.

Sakhlelashvili had attempted to highjack a plane with 32 passengers on board belonging to the company "Belavia" in June of 2014.

The family of Sakhiashvili commented on the court decision, stating that they were happy with the verdict because they expected a stricter penalty.
