US Assistant Secretary of State is in Tbilisi.. Victoria Nuland made comments for Georgian journalists after the official meetings. The US Assistant Secretary of State believes that the extradition of MIkheil Saakashvili is a Ukraine-Georgia affair and refrains from discussing the topic.
"As far as we know, the former President was invited to be a member of the wider advisory group, which President Poroshenko established. As you know, Ukraine is keen to get a broad experience in the international arena, including from those people who have a lot of experience in the reforms. The former President Saakashvili is a private citizen and it"s his decision. As to the extradition request, it is a requirement of georgia towards Ukraine. Thus, it is a bilateral issue between the two countries and Iwill not make any comment, "- said Nuland.
The United States Assistant Secretary of State has made another statement on Georgia and Ukraine.
"Now it is a very important moment,both for Ukraine and for the history of Georgia, since you are both trying to follow the path of Euro-Atlantic integration. I call on all citizens of Georgia and all Ukrainian citizens to support each other in this process, you need each other," - said Nuland.
